First Invasive Fish Cook Out
eat the invasives
A dream come true event brought to you by the Winter Polespear Tournament 2017, Atlas Environmental, and Buzz Mill San Marcos!
The 7th biannual polespear tournament takes place November 1st-21st removing invasive fish, snails, and trash out of the upper San Marcos River. Across the past six tournaments, 1,745 suckermouth catfish and 80 tilapia have been removed adding up to over 1,000 lbs invasive biomass! All removed fish are donated to Bobcat Blend for compost. Even though these fish are invasive, we believe they are still a resource and nothing ends up in a landfill.
Atlas Environmental is very excited to team up with Buzz Mill San Marcos and put together the first ever Invasive Fish Cook Out! Throughout the tournament, invasive fish speared by participants directly out of the San Marcos River, will be cooked and served with toppings and fixin's for free fish tacos!!!
Atlas Environmental could not be more thankful for Buzz Mill's amazing gesture of support for the local San Marcos community and the San Marcos River!
Please come join us at Buzz Mill on November 19th from 2-5pm to meet your local spearos, neighbors, and enjoy delicious fish tacos! A one-of-a-kind experience combining our love for the San Marcos River, conservation, and community!
