Invasive Fish Fry and Awards Ceremony Winter 2018

Invasive Fish Fry and Awards Ceremony Winter 2018

Hosted by Atlas Environmental

Winter Polespear Tournament 2018 Invasive Fish Fry and Awards Ceremony brought to you by Atlas Environmental and Buzz Mill San Marcos!

The 9th Biannual Polespear Tournament takes place November 1st to November 21st removing invasive fish, snails, and trash out of the upper San Marcos River. Across the past 8 tournaments, 2,511 suckermouth catfish and 100 tilapia have been removed adding up to over 1,460 lbs invasive biomass! All removed fish are donated for fish emulsion compost. Even though these fish are invasive, we believe they are still a resource and nothing ends up in a landfill.

Atlas Environmental is very excited to team up with Buzz Mill San Marcos again and put together another amazing Invasive Fish Fry! Throughout the tournament, invasive fish speared by participants directly out of the San Marcos River, will be fried and served with toppings and fixin's for FREE FISH TACOS! Take advantage of this opportunity to eat invasive fish removed from one of the most unique ecosystems in the world. We will have a donation jar for tips and all proceeds will go directly back into the Winter Polespear Tournament 2018!

Atlas Environmental could not be more thankful for Buzz Mill's amazing gesture of support for the local San Marcos community and the San Marcos River!

Please come join us at Buzz Mill on WEDNESDAY November 28th from 5pm-8pm to meet your local spearos, neighbors, and enjoy delicious fish tacos! A one-of-a-kind experience combining our love for the San Marcos River, conservation, and community!

Featuring live reggae music from Kairos 6:30pm to 7pm!
Awards will begin around 7:15pm.
