Mary Beth & Cass Brostad

  • The Buzz Mill 1505 Town Creek Drive Austin, TX, 78741 United States (map)

Mary Beth (9PM): Mary Beth was born to classical pianists, grew up playing cello in orchestras, then joined a screamo band in college which eventually led her to touring the US and Europe in the Austin-based folk punk band, East Cameron Folkcore. Currently recording her second album, Mary Beth's songs are emotional, funny, and lyrics-driven. Her intricate guitar-playing and sweeping melodies create "a landscape to live in" and her songwriting - reflecting her degrees in writing and library science - "listen like a book you are reading" (Caro Somes, 2017).

Cass Brostad (8PM): Singer/songwriter Cass Brostad hails from Omaha but has made Austin home for the last 7 years. She sings (constantly) and plays accordion in Madisons, who recently released a new record - No Man's Land - the title track written by Brostad. Currently, she is recording an album of original songs with the project Cass Brostad and the Terrible Lovers and playing upright bass in the folk duo Heavens to Betsy. Some say she tells too many dad jokes.
